Like He did with Peter, Jesus asks everyone:"Do you love me?"
Jesus did not just ask this question to people obedient to his commandments. He makes the same appeal to those who scorn or betray him. God does not doubt to ask sinners their love. So when a sinner repents, he should not feel unworthy of the love that Jesus offers him! Father Tourville wrote: "Our Lord is not the kind of Master who is only interested in good students." He gives us the easiest means to repair our faults: love... To love the Lord whom we have refused, and the prayer we left, and the truth which our lies adulterated! To love our duty, and to love the One who commands us.
The lure of sin diminishes in proportion to the love we have for our Lord.
Let us repeat every day the words that avoided Peter another fall: "Lord, you know all things, my past faults, my present weakness, my future temptations, but you also know how much I love you!"

Com a Pere, Jesús demana a cadascú : "M'estimes?"
Jesús no només fa aquesta pregunta a persones obedients als seus manaments.
