Tradition and progress

  The alliance of tradition and progress is the genius of Roman Catholicism and denotes the constant influence that through this alliance is exerted by the Holy Spirit. The tradition is kept alive and the progress is wisely affirmed. Far from being refractory to human progress, the Church extracts from its traditional principles the solutions to the problems that arise in each generation. From the philosophical systems that occur at different times it discloses the truth they contain from error; and condemning errors, it remains faithful to the Gospel.


  L'aliança de la tradició i el progrés és el geni de l'Església romana i denota la influència constant que a través d'ella exerceix l'Esperit Sant. La tradició es manté viva i el progrés s'hi afirma amb saviesa. Lluny de ser refractaria al progrés humà, extreu dels seus principis tradicionals les solucions dels problemes que es plantegen a cada generació. Dels sistemes filosòfics que es succeeixen en les diferents èpoques en destria allò que hi ha de veritat i d'error; i condemnant els errors, resta fidel a l'Evangeli.
