The greatest

 "Among the sons of women there is none greater than John the Baptist."

His incomparable greatness lies in that fact that he has remained true to his mission. He has not sought the advantages and prestige, but only the will of God. He succeeded the most terrible proof that a man can face: success. He "preceded the Savior of the world and prepared his paths," including that of the cross. First with his courage, then with his selflessness, he perfectly fulfilled what God expected of him.

La seva inigualable grandesa resideix en que ell s'ha mantingut fidel a la seva vocació. No ha buscat ni els avantatges ni els honors, sinó únicament la voluntat de Déu. Ha triomfat de la prova més terrible a la que es pot enfrontar un home: l'èxit. Ell ha "precedit al Salvador del món i li ha preparat els camins", inclòs el camí de la creu. Primer amb el seu coratge, i després per la seva abnegació, ha acomplert perfectament i únicament allò que Déu esperava d'ell.
