Reading the Gospel

 Is it asking too much to wish that in all of our Catholic homes, could be found, in a good place, and accessible to all members of the family, an edition as beautiful as possible of the Gospels? Although this does not mean that every Christian should not also have his own little Gospel, to be frequently consulted, and meditated every day  if possible. (...)

The Gospel should be read slowly. It is a food too strong to be swallowed at once, and it helps only if it is assimilated and savored, watching however, that it is not only about satisfying an intellectual curiosity. (...)

It is not so much about reading the pages of the Gospel to relive the times of Jesus, but rather to make Jesus relive in our time, and especially in our lives. 

 És desitjar massa que en totes les nostres llars catòliques, hi hagués, en un bon lloc, i accessible a tots els membres de la familia, una edició dels Sants Evangelis tant bella com fos possible? Això no vol pas dir que tot cristià no hagi de tenir, també, el seu propi Evangeli, petit, per ser sovint consultat, i meditat tots els dies, a poguer ser. (...)

L'Evangeli s'ha de llegir lentament. És un aliment massa fort per ser empassat d'un sol cop, i només fa profit si s'assimila, i només es pot assimilar si s'assaboreix, vigilant, però, que no es faci només per satisfer una curiositat intel·lectual.(...)

No es tracta tant de llegir les pàgines de l'Evangeli per reviure els temps de Jesús, ens pertoca més aviat de fer reviure Jesús en el nostre temps, i, sobretot en la nostra vida.
