Children of the Light

 ¿ Where does this inner light which we call consciousness come from? It is neither our work, nor the projection of our own thoughts, often so opposed to our desires: It is the reflection of another light. Our innate sense of justice commands us to do good and not evil; however, men often differ regarding the appreciation of good and evil. There are erroneous consciences, darkened interior lights. The believer escapes this danger, as his reason is enlightened by faith. His consciousness is a reflection of a light emanating from God. How much more privileged is the Christian whose consciousness reflects the person and authority of the Son of God! Baptism makes us, in the words of Jesus, children of the Light. The Spirit of Christ dwells in our soul illuminating our thoughts.

 ¿D'on ve aquesta llum interior a la que anomenem consciència? No és pas obra nostra, no és la projecció dels nostres propis pensaments, ja que sovint es contraposa als nostres desigs: és el reflex d'una altra llum. El nostre sentit innat de la justicia ens mana fer el bé i no el mal; això no obstant, els homes sovint discrepen pel que fa a l'apreciació del bé i del mal. Hi ha consciències errònees, llums interiors enfosquides. El creient escapa aquest perill; estant la seva raó il·luminada per la fe, la seva consciència és el reflex d'una llum que emana de Déu. ¡ Quant més privilegiat és encara el cristià la consciència del qual reflecteix la persona i l'autoritat del Fill de Déu! El baptisme fa de nosaltres, segons l'expressió de Jesús, fills de la Llum. L'Esperit de Jesucrist habita la nostra ànima, el seu pensament il·lumina el nostre.
