Not abolished, but perfected

 Jesus did not come to abolish but to perfect. He did not make reset of the past. Nor did He reject truths, though imperfect and provisional that men of earlier times had come to recognize, or virtues that they had come to practice. The same that God had inspired them in the course of centuries, Jesus added to his teaching. In this sense, Jesus doesn’t innovate: his Gospel connects with the long effort of men running towards the truth. But revealing it fully, He will transform the thoughts and aspirations of the people (...)

Let us value, then, the generous audacity of men who strive to complete what our ancestors began, and our generation, without any doubt, will not finish either.

  Jesús no va venir a abolir, sinó a perfeccionar. No va pas fer taula rasa amb el passat. No va rebutjar les veritats, encara que imperfectes i provisionals que els homes d'èpoques precedents varen arribar a reconèixer, ni les virtuts que havien aconseguit practicar. Allò mateix que Déu els havia inspirat en el curs dels segles, ho va incorporar Jesús a la seva doctrina. En aquest sentit, Jesús no innova : el seu Evangeli connecta amb el llarg esforç dels homes en marxa vers la veritat. Però, revelant-la en plenitud, Ell transformarà els pensaments i les aspiracions dels homes (...)

Valorem, doncs, l'audàcia generosa dels homes que s'esforcen a completar allò que els nostres avantpassats van començar,  i que la nostra generació, sense dubte, tampoc deixarà acabat.
