Nature awaits

Let us not think that the groans of creation are a sterile complaint of an irremediable misfortune. These moans are unrelated to the past, instead, they are attached to the future. The nature eagerly awaits that men, freed from the tyranny of sin, have won the full freedom and the glory of the children of God. Then, participating in their wonderful transformation, it will also possess the beauty, the harmony, and the goodness that God had originally destined to it. Its cries are not the rattle of a dying man crying with despair, but that of hope of the woman giving birth. They come from the pain of giving birth of a better world where glorified man will reign "the new heavens and the new earth where righteousness will dwell"

  No pensem que els gemecs de la creació siguin una queixa estèril per una desgràcia irreparable. Aquests gemecs no guarden relació amb el passat sinó amb l'esdevenidor. La naturalesa espera amb impaciència que els homes arrancats de la tirania del pecat hagin conquerit la plena llibertat i la glòria dels fills de Déu. Aleshores, participant de la seva meravellosa transformació, ella també posseirà la bellesa, l'harmonia, i la bondat que Déu li havia destinat originàriament. Els seus laments no són el sonall d'un moribund desesperat sinó el crit d'esperança de la dona que infanta. Són els gemecs de dolor de l'infantament d'un món millor on regnerà l'home glorificat, "els cels nous i la terra nova on habitarà la justicia".
