Creation moans

Creation is the way that leads to heaven: it is not God's fault, but ours, if this road is covered with brambles. All the riches of the earth were to contribute to our happiness, but ¿ who is to blame if we make a wrong use of it ? if the vanity of man extracts from the fruit of the vine the alcohol that destroys his body, and turns it into something explosive? The land opens generously its womb so that man can heat, light, make tools out of it: why do men manufacture weapons of its substance as well, to kill each other? No! creation is not as it would have been if man had been faithful to his vocation, but has been reduced to slavery and corruption ... and as St. Paul says, it entirely moans from pain, expecting the final manifestation of God's children.

  La creació és el camí que ens condueix al cel: no és culpa de Déu, sinó nostra, si aquest camí està cobert d'esbarzers. Totes les riqueses de la terra havien de contribuir a la nostra felicitat: ¿ en té la culpa ella si en fem un ús equivocat, si la vanitat de l'home extreu del fruit de la vinya l'alcohol que destrueix el seu organisme, i el converteix en quelcom explosiu? La terra obra generosament les seves entranyes per tal que l'home es pugui escalfar, il·luminar, fabricar eines: per què de la seva substància els homes fabriquen armes per matar-se entre ells? No! la creació no és tal i com hauria estat si l'home hagués estat fidel a la seva vocació; sinó que ha estat reduïda a l'esclavatge de la corrupció... i com diu Sant Pau, tota ella gemega dolors de part fins veure la manifestació definitiva dels fills de Déu.
